Oldenburg, Germany's aleo solar [1] announced today that is signed a contract worth nearly $25 million to supply solar modules to Pamplona, Spain-based Solartia.

Solartia's Valdegón project in Spain will be the largest solar farm to exclusively use modules from aleo solar.

"The premium modules from aleo solar have met our high demands since going into operation. We anticipate high energy yields throughout their entire lifecycle," said José Mendívil, managing director of Solartia.

The planned photovoltaic power plant, with more than 32,000 aleo modules, is expected to be connected to Spain's electric grid by September of this year, with construction to start in February.

Aleo said energy from the Valdegón site will be enough to supply over 2,200 homes.

Under today's agreement, aleo said Solartia has the option of ordering another shipment of modules in 2008 worth $7 million.

Aleo, which has a plant in Spain that produces modules exclusively for the Spanish market, supplied Solartia with 24,000 modules last year for another solar farm in Viana.

Aleo's plant in Santa María de Palautordera, Spain, has an annual capacity of 10 megawatts.

The company's facility in Prenzlau, Germany, has an annual capacity of 90 MW, which is scheduled to be increased to 170 MW by the end of 2008.
