Trina Solar and Q-Cells working together

February 8, 2007

Trina Solar (NYSE: TSL) of China has entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with leading European solar manufacturer Q-Cells.

Under the agreement, Trina Solar is to supply Q-Cells with at least 18MW of high-quality monocrystalline wafers that Q-Cells will make into cells, which Trina in turn will then take back and integrate into its solar modules (i.e. panels.)

The wafers and associated assembly helps Q-Cells fill extra capacity in its cell lines in Thalheim, Germany.

Q-Cells is to provide technical assistance to Trina Solar during the ramp up of the Trina Solar cell lines.

Trina Solar is in the process of building its own 50MW solar cell plant that is expected to be fully operational by mid-2007.

"We are very pleased to enter this agreement with Q-Cells which will allow us to provide high quality wafers to Q-Cells to be processed into cells," stated Mr. Jifan Gao, Trina Solar's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "This cooperation will help us accelerate our learning curve as we ramp up our in house cell plant and develop a strong partnership with a leading solar cell manufacturing company."

Trina Solar is a solar photovoltaic products manufacturer based in China. Q-Cells is now the second largest producer of solar cells worldwide.
