Schott Solar, PermaCity in PV supply deal

August 20, 2008

Roseville, Calif.-based Schott Solar said today that it signed an agreement to supply over 10 megawatts of photovoltaic modules to Long Beach, Calif.-based PermaCity Solar, a provider of solar PV and solar thermal systems.

Schott Solar, a subsidiary of Mainz, Germany-based Schott, a specialty glassmaker, did not disclose the financial terms of the contract.

"Schott Solar photovoltaic modules provide our customers with reliable, durable, and highly efficient solar solutions," said Jonathan Port, president and CEO of PermaCity.

PermaCity designs, engineers, and installs solar solutions for commercial and residential applications across southern California. The company's relationship with Schott Solar dates back to 2004 when they built the first free-standing Schott Solar array.

"Their engineering and support services are a perfect fit for Schott Solar's high quality modules," said Mac Moore, executive VP of sales and marketing for Schott Solar.

The PV modules for PermaCity will be manufactured at Schott Solar's site in Billerica, Mass., as well as in Albuquerque, N.M., where Schott is building a new facility. Modules produced in Albuquerque are expected to be available to the market in the second quarter of 2009.
