Basin Water gets San Bernardino contract

September 24, 2007

Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.-based Basin Water (Nasdaq: BWTR) said today it signed a contract to provide nitrate and perchlorate removal for the East Valley Water District of San Bernardino County, Calif.

Financial term of the contract were not disclosed.

"In this region of California, as in many places in the country, making groundwater viable for drinking water supplies is an essential part of a long-term strategy to ensure the continued growth of communities. This installation represents our second agreement with the district," said Orlando Carreno, VP, western region, at Basin Water.

Basin said its treatment system would achieve compliance with state and federal guidelines while increasing well productivity by over 30 percent.

The company said fabrication and installation of the new treatment facility at the district's Well No. 107 is expected to begin almost immediately and should be completed by the end of 2007. Basin said the plant should come online by the first of the new year.

"It is significant not only for its removal of dual contaminants with a minimal footprint, but also for the expansion of the district's capacity without costly changes in infrastructure. By providing an efficient system design with low life-cycle costs and backing guaranteed costs with a pay for performance agreement, we can help our clients deliver dependable and affordable quality drinking water for years to come," said Carreno.

The facility will be designed to deliver a total of 2.5 million gallons a day of drinking water to the East Valley Water District's customer base of approximately 65,000 people.
