Toronto's Bullfrog Power, a provider of green electricity, said today that it will develop a new 9.9 megawatt Ontario wind farm with Sky Generation.
Sky Generation previously developed the 5.4 MW Ferndale wind farm.
Bullfrog said the new farm will be build in Ravenswood, on the shores of Lake Huron in Ontario.
"The overwhelming response from customers has enabled us to expand our partnerships with suppliers like Sky Generation to bring new clean power to the Ontario system," said Tom Heintzman, president of Bullfrog Power.
The Ravenswood farm will be home to six Vestas V82 1.65 MW wind turbines, which will produce more than 26 million kilowatt hours of power annually, according to Bullfrog.
Construction is expected to begin this month, with completion scheduled for late fall 2007.
Financial terms of the development project were not disclosed.
Bullfrog, which promotes itself as a provider of 100 percent green electricity, said it will source a portion of the wind power from the new site.
The company gets power for its customers in Ontario and Alberta exclusively from wind and hydro generators.
In June, Wal-Mart Canada announced that it signed a 3-year agreement to purchase 31,000 MW hours of power from Bullfrog for three Alberta Wal-Mart stores.
Sky Generation has supplied Bullfrog Power with wind power from its Ferndale farm since the launch of Bullfrog Power in 2005.
Two new turbines were added to that site in 2006.
