Thermal Energy gets first order in China

August 7, 2007

Thermal Energy International announced today that it received its first order in China for its GEM steam traps.

The Ottawa company said it will install its condensate return system on one of the paper machines at Lee and Man Paper Manufacturing in Hongmei in Guangdong Province.

The installation follows a trial by the company announced in July (see New steam recovery process trialed in China).

"We look forward to the results of this installation and having an opportunity to work with Lee and Mann on reducing their steam production costs and other energy saving solutions," said Thermal Energy president and CEO Tim Angus.

Thermal Energy said Lee and Mann plans to replace many of the steam traps on one of the company's four large containerboard machines at the 1 million square foot Hongmei plant.

The facility, which opened in 2004, produces over 1.5 million tons of containerboard annually, making it one of the largest plants of its type in the world.

Thermal Energy said Lee and Man will monitor the results of this installation and will consider further conversions of large condensate systems at other plants.

Thermal Energy, which focuses on providing air pollution control, renewable energy, and waste heat recovery and other energy conservation products, also offers complementary engineering services.

The company's customers include auto manufacturers, coal-fired utilities, food makers, hospitals, primary metal, pulp and paper processors, and sewage-treatment facilities.
