Euro Tech gets $1.7M waste water contract

August 7, 2007

Euro Tech Holdings said today that its subsidiary, Yixing Pact Environmental Technology, received a $1.7 million contract to build a waste water treatment plant in Suzhou, China.

The company said the deal covers design, manufacture, supply, and commissioning of a facility that would handle up to 500-meters-cubed per day.

Euro Tech said the plant, which will come on line by the end of September, will include two new product lines for sludge dewatering and membrane-enhanced biological treatment.

The company uses Ecomacchine specifications for its belt filter press for sludge dewatering.

Italy's Ecomacchine specializes in making sludge handling and dewatering equipment.

The company's membrane enhanced biological treatment uses Toray ultrafiltration membranes.

Japan's Toray manufactures membrane separation technologies for water and wastewater systems.

The Pact unit, based in Shanghai, provides environmental solutions for industrial and municipal clients, focusing on water and wastewater treatment.

Pact covers design, manufacturing, sourcing, installation and servicing of water and wastewater treatment, water desalination plants and equipment.

Earlier this year, BMW announced that it developed a new recycling process in its engine plant in Steyr, Austria, for the elimination of waste water (see BMW eliminates waste water at engine plant in Austria).

BMW said that by using a combination of various membrane technologies, all manufacturing waste water in the plant is treated and fed back into the production system.

The automaker said it has closed the main drainage connection at the plant.
