Fuel cell developer IdaTech of Bend River, Oregon has announced a flurry of commercial activity and relationships.
Today, the company said it has secured two contracts for what it calls "large scale" hydrogen purification.
Using its hydrogen purification technology, the HyPurium™ membrane, one contract with a Japanese company will focus on the testing and evaluation of IdaTech's purification technologies for use in distributed hydrogen production.
A second purification contract is to be a collaboration with a European military contractor for high-power military applications.
No figures for either deal were released.
The company also announced that CERDEC, the U.S. Army's Communications Electronics Research Development and Engineering Center, has awarded it a second contract to further develop its three kilowatt tactical fuel cell generator based on jet and diesel fuel.
The $2.55 million award is to focus on system integration, testing and evaluation.
In addition to military use, the technology has potential important non-military applications in replacement of small diesel generators with quieter, less polluting and more efficient diesel fueled fuel cell systems, the company claimed.
Finally, IdaTech said it has signed contracts with three companies—Grupo Celsur, Innovation Wireless Products, Inc. and APECUS—to distribute its family of backup power solutions in Southeast Asia and Latin America.
IdaTech develops and manufactures PEM (proton exchange membrane) fuel cell solutions for telecom, commercial and industrial backup power for a range of applications, from portable to off grid power.
