Tech Laboratories (OTCBB: TLBT) of Sparks, Nevada, is seeking a patent on a recently acquired technology that makes personal-scale biodiesel production more effective.
The company says its Direct Catalyst Injection (DCI) system improves the efficiency of the popular FuelMeister biodiesel reactor, decreasing user involvement in the production process, and improves the reaction speed to produce biodiesel. The system consists of a proprietary mixing chamber and venturi system.
“We believe that this proprietary technology is a significant competitive advantage, and the filing of the patent will strengthen our ability to protect this technology. Additionally, the patent filing will provide further validation for our recent acquisition of Renewal Fuels as a measurable means to build shareholder value,” said John King, Chief Executive Officer of Tech Laboratories.
Tech Labs recently announced its acquisition of Renewal Fuels and its FuelMeister line of personal biodiesel processors.
FuelMeister is a widely-sold brand of personal biodiesel processor, with more than 2,000 units sold worldwide through 30 dealers nationwide. The FuelMeister II can produce 80 gallons of biodiesel per day from waste vegetable oil collected from restaurant deep fat fryers, the company claims, twice the capacity of the original FuelMeister, an improvement due primarily to the impact of the proprietary DCI technology.
DCI also allows the FuelMeister II to work with one tank, making the space required smaller, the company said.
