Energy Storage

I think it is a pretty stupid idea to use an expensive hybrid car battery to supply energy for the grid. Whoever thought this one up must be thinking backward. Why would anyone wish to place a strain on batteries when it would make more sense and be much cheaper and safer to use solar or wind running to a grid tie inverter.

You can presently get a 1kw vertical wind generator plus controller from Shanghai Aeolus Wind Turbine Co. Ltd. for a total of $2184 (plus $300 for postage) then all you need is a tie grid inverter. Grid tie inverters cost a bit but you would need one no matter where the high voltage DC (usually 200-500VDC input for grid tie inverters) was generated That would be much better than risking an expensive car battery. Besides, this particular vertical wind generator can be roof mounted and does not need a tall tower. Just go to http://www.sawt.com.cn/index_en.asp and take a look.
