ENDESA dedicates first wind farm in France

March 14, 2007

Today, Jesús Olmos, general manager of Endesa Europe (a subsidiary of ENDESA, NYSE: ELE), officially opened the Lehaucourt wind farm in France.

It's the first of five wind power facilities the company is starting up in the country.

The Lehaucourt wind farm is located in the Picardy region of lAisne, and has entailed an investment of approximately €10 million.

The French market is one of the areas the company is targeting most heavily for geographical expansion, it said in a statement.

Endesa France chose Nordex N90 turbines. The structures stand 125 meters high (the mast measures 80 meters and the blades span 45 meters) and each has net capacity of 2.5MW. The facility comprises four turbines, for total installed capacity of 10 MW, and is to generate energy equivalent to the electricity consumption of 22,000 inhabitants.

Endesa was recently awarded tender for the Cernon I and Cernon II wind farms, which will have a total installed capacity of 17.5MW, and the Ambon wind farm at the end of last year which will have 10MW in installed capacity.

Endesa France plans to construct 200 MW of wind power capacity in the country.
