Investigators raid Arkansas fuel cell plant

February 16, 2007

U.S. federal agents have searched a fuel cell plant in Magnolia, Arkansas, but won't say what prompted the search warrant.

Officials said agents with the U.S. Defense Department's Criminal Investigative Services seized records in their search yesterday at Amfuel, formerly known as American Fuel Cell and Coated Fabric Company, according to the Associated Press. They said FBI and federal transportation officials also took part.

Steve Wray of the Defense Department's Inspector General's office said the search warrant listed only records as items being sought.

The plant, which employs 308 people, makes fuel cells for military and other aircraft and helicopters. Amfuel is part of France-based Zodiac Group.

the Cleantech Group's call to Amfuel for a statement wasn't returned.
