Centia technology for converting lipid or animal fat oil into high-value fuels

Diversified Energy Corporation and North Carolina State University have developed a breakthrough technology (named Centia™) to produce high performance biofuels from any renewable oil.

The patent pending process, being initially targeted to produce aviation biofuel and a biodiesel additive for cold-weather operations, provides for several key advantages over traditional biofuel technologies.

The process provides for up to a 50% reduction in external energy required to make the biofuel, helping to create an overall process with end-to-end energy efficiencies approaching 85%. Centia™ furthermore provides the ability to utilize any renewable lipid-based oil compound (like soybean, canola, animal fats, algae, among others), thus avoiding being beholden to the price and availability of any one supply source. Preliminary analyses shows the “100% green” Centia™ biofuel product can be competitively priced with petroleum-derived fuel, even before considering the benefits from government financial incentives.
