Suntech introducing BIPV cells in North America

February 1, 2007

Suntech Power (NYSE: STP), one of the world's leading manufacturers of photovoltaic (PV) cells and modules, has begun marketing and selling its building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) solar products in the North America.

The modules are being made by subsidiary MSK Corporation, and being distributed by another subsidiary Suntech America.

"With our acquisition of MSK last year, we are now positioned to take a leadership role in the emerging market for BIPV products for which MSK commands a first mover advantage," commented Mr. Zhengrong Shi, Chairman and CEO of Suntech Power. [ed.: and, if you hadn't heard, the richest man in China, worth $3B USD.]

Leonard May has been named as Vice President of Business Development of Suntech America, and will be responsible for the BIPV market in the Americas.

With 12 years experience at Solarex, later acquired by BP Solar, May has a long track record of sales, distribution, marketing and executive management within the PV solar space.

Suntech designs, develops, manufactures, and markets a variety of high quality, cost effective and environmentally friendly PV cells and modules for electric power applications in the residential, commercial, industrial, and public utility sectors.

Suntech's majority-owned subsidiary, MSK Corporation, is one of the top-ranked companies in the building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) space.
