Finding it perhaps not quite as clever as first thought, the board of Wataire International Inc., an air-to-water (read "dehumidifier") vendor announced today that it's changing the company's name.
The company says that it hopes a corporate name change will "more accurately reflect the world wide market potential for its atmospheric water generator products."
A number of names are being considered, it says. When a final choice is made, it will be announced along with a new CUSIP number and trading symbol. Hopefully not in the running are similarly cutesy names like, oh say:
- AirFreshe
- AquaOxy, or, our favorite for the Afghan market,
- "Humid Karzai" (yup, we're experts here at Cleantech.com on what NOT to do.)
While interesting technology with applicability in fresh water-challenged areas and disaster zones, critics cite high power requirements and relatively low tech of these types of systems.

And they selected...
Clearly not heeding our suggestions above, Wataire Industries Inc. today announced it has officially changed its corporate name to Wataire Ecosafe Technologies Inc.
Much better!
And it so clearly addresses their stated objective above.
Here's hoping they're not reprinting stationery...
