Mascoma partnering on cellulosic ethanol facilities

Mascoma, a company pursuing cellulosic biomass-to-ethanol development and production, is working with Tamarack Energy of Essex, Connecticut to jointly develop cellulosic ethanol facilities.

The two will set up operations in New York, Pennsylvania and other unnamed New England states at wood mills and other production facilities.

Mascoma brings its cellulosic conversion technologies, processes, engineering and design expertise to the equation.

Tamarack offers alternative energy development, permitting, operational and financing abilities.

"Given the number of sites across the northeast with access to cellulosic feedstocks, including scrap wood, paper sludge, and other forestry and agricultural biomass, the region is ideal for the renewable energy economic development projects and integrated plants which Tamarack Energy and Mascoma can develop," said Tamarack Energy President Derek Amidon.

Mascoma is a cellulosic biomass-to-ethanol company with corporate offices in Cambridge, MA and R&D labs in Hanover, NH.

Tamarack is a developer, investor, owner, and operator of energy projects that utilize biofuels, wind, biomass, and combined heat and power (CHP) technologies.
