The company added more than 9,200 square feet of processing space in Irvine, Calif.
Irvine, Calif.-based Composite Technology (OTC: CPTC) announced today that it has completed an expansion of the production facility for its CTC Cable subsidiary, which manufactures high efficiency conductors for use in electrical transmission grids.
The company said it added over 9,200 square feet to its Irvine plant, and that it is now placing its pultrusion production lines in the area.
Once all the production lines are in place, Composite Technology said manufacturing capacity would go up by more than 250 percent, rising to 18,000 kilometers per year, up from 5,200 kilometers.
"Over the last year it became increasingly evident we needed to add capacity," said Marv Sepe, COO of Composite Technology and president of CTC Cable.
"This expansion will be a great benefit to CTC Cable and our customers, since we will be able to shorten production times and take advantage of market opportunities."
The company said CTC Cable manufactures its own custom pultrusion machines in a separate area of the Irvine facility and said it plans to place 10 machines in the new production area over the next three months.
The unit produces composite rod for use in its Aluminum Conductor Composite Core conductors, which the company said demonstrate less electricity line losses when compared with conventional conductors.
Composite Technology also designs, produces, and sells wind turbines through its DeWind subsidiary.
