Nordex gets 185MW Italian wind order

November 15, 2007

Norderstedt, Germany-based Nordex said today it received three orders for wind turbines from Denmark's Greentech Energy Systems for use in Italy.

Under the agreement, Nordex will supply and install a total of 89 turbines with a rated output totalling 185 megawatts. The contract, which includes two years of service, is valued at 190 million euros.

"After already booking new business worth more than 160 million euros from Italy in the course of 2007, the three new orders confirm our positive projections for this growth market," said Carsten Pedersen, COO of sales and marketing at Nordex.

Greentech Energy Systems plans to use 21 of the turbines at the Messina wind farm on Sicily, with 43 going toward the Grighine project on Sardinia, and 25 being used in the Energia Alternativa wind park, also on Sardinia.

The Energia Alternativa project is an extension of a wind park recently set up by Nordex consisting of 14 turbines.

The new wind farms and the Energia extension are scheduled to start construction in the spring, with work expected to be completed by the end of 2008.
