Cinergex Solutions and Tri Clean Enterprises are becoming fast friends in the waste to energy business, announcing their second joint venture of the week.
The two Canadian companies said today they have a tentative agreement to build a $147 million plant in Penang, Malaysia.
Cinergex claims it will be the largest gasification plant yet built in Southeast Asia.
Tri Clean's portion of the project is expected to be $75 million.
The company has a proprietary hybrid thermodynamic energy converter system.
On Wednesday, Cinergex and Tri Clean teamed up for a $135 million plant in Ghana.
The Malaysian plant will process up to 1,500 tonnes of municipal solid waste per day, generating up to 32 Megawatts of much-needed electricity.
Construction is expected to be completed within 12 months of the execution of the final contracts.
Tri Clean will supply the gasification components, while Cinergex will supply all the electrical components required by each system.
Cinergex will be responsible for lead generation, sales, contracting and overall project management.
The Ghana project, to be constructed in Kumasi, the second largest city in Ghana, will be a 1,000 tonne per day plant.
The subcontract with Triclean on that deal is for $71 million.
Supply of the components is expected to begin within the next three months.
Cinergex said it has received several expressions of interest from other municipalities in Malaysia and in Aceh province, in Indonesia, seeking similar advanced waste treatment facilities.
The company expects to announce additional projects in the region, including at least one 250 tonne per day plant, by fall 2007.
